New year, new you? That’s a nice motto if you’re into that stuff, but we’ll get you better: New Year, New Shows and Movies. As we look forward to the rest of 2022, we can take comfort in the fact that streaming platforms have already produced plenty of exciting new January releases to keep us entertained as we weather the winter.

January delivers plenty of future hits and returning favorites, like HBO Max Peacemaker and Golden age, from Netflix ozark, and from Amazon As we see. Below, we’ve rounded up the best shows and movies to stream in January on Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, and Netflix.

Amazon Prime Video is kicking off the new year like all gossip columnists: focusing on Ben Affleck. Boston icon does his best New Yawk accent in George Clooney-directed comedy-drama The tender bar, about an aspiring writer (played as a child by Daniel Ranieri and as an adult by Tye Sheridan) who lives on Long Island, has a deadbeat father, and learns all of life’s most important lessons from his bartender uncle (Affleck) . The other big release of the month is the new series As we see, which revolves around three housemates in their twenties — Jack (Rick Glassman), Harrison (Albert Rutecki), and Violet (Sue Ann Pien) — who are on the autism spectrum. The show comes from a master to make everyone cry, Friday night lights and Kinshipis Jason Katims.

January is when Boba Fett shines. The Mandalorian spin off Boba Fett’s Book, starring Temuera Morrison as the bounty hunter himself and Ming-Na Wen as the mercenary Fennec Shand, releases new episodes Wednesdays throughout the month on Disney+. Other highlights this month include new episodes of The world according to Jeff Goldblum (January 19) and Marvel’s Disney+ premiere Eternals. OK, so maybe they’re not all highlights.

HBO and HBO Max are really taking their New Year’s resolutions to bring you some awesome stuff to watch seriously. January 2022 has been busy, with the final season of Research group start things on January 7, followed by the season 2 premiere of Euphoria January 9. The John Cena DC Comics Series Peacemaker created on January 13 and Golden age, the period drama of Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, releases Jan. 24. And for all fans of sci-fi gems, HBO Max is the new streaming home of the excellent Fringe to January 15.

Haaaaave you met the show that Hulu hopes will be your new favorite comedy? The streaming platform’s biggest original release in January is how i met your father, a new how I Met Your Mother spin-off starring Hilary Duff, which premiered on January 18. And as always, Hulu has the next-day streaming rights to many of your favorite shows, which means you can expect new episodes of the latest season of blackish, the big new sitcom Abbott Elementary School (seriously, check this out!), horror series The single person, and new dramas like Fox’s Monarch.

Finally, everyone’s favorite money launderers are back. ozark returns to Netflix on January 21 for the first half of its fourth and final season, which sends the entire Byrde family into deeper trouble than ever. Too hot to handle, the reality show about sexy people who try not to get into it, is already in its third season; it premiered on January 19. And Kristen Bell stars in a satirical dark comedy thriller with a mouthful of a name – The woman in the house opposite the girl at the window — a parody of Hitchcockian voyeuristic thrillers. Prepare your binoculars.
