Welcome to the first Super Saturday of 2022! After a good warm-up in Italy and Ireland on Friday, it’s time for an evening of eight selections. Norway and Lithuania keep hanging around, Italy, Israel and Estonia continue their shopping throughout the week, Latvia and Slovenia get serious after their generic rounds, while Sweden finally gets the ball rolling.
Before the end of the night, we should have two new entries for Turin.
Here are all the details you need for the fifth Saturday of the 2022 national selections.
Saturday February 5: Eurovision 2022 Selection Shows
Eesti Laul 2022 from Estonia

The new Eesti Laul 2022 kicked off in November with four quarter-finals. It took almost two months for the semi-finals, and in the space of just three days they are already almost over. On Thursday, five acts qualified, including Ott Lepland, Elina Nechayeva and Stig Rästa. Now Jaagup Tuisk, Anna Sahlene, STEFAN and seven others will sing in semi-final two, all vying for the final five spots in the grand final.
Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 2022
Semi-final 4 — February 5, 2022
Time: 7:55 p.m. CET to 9:10 p.m. CET
This is the last of the “first look” semi-finals, as the fifth and final semi-final will feature previously eliminated acts seeking a second chance. Tonight we’ll see Alexandra Jonner, Maria Mohn, Kim Wigaard and Sofie Fjellvang go head-to-head for a direct ticket to the Grand Final. Meanwhile, the automatic Subwoofer qualifiers will finally unleash their fruity anthem “Give That Wolf A Banana”.
The Lithuanian Pabandom is naujo! 2022
Semi-final 2 — February 5, 2022
Time: 8:00 p.m. CET to 9:40 p.m. CET
We are on the straight line! After three rounds and a semi-final, the Lithuanian Pabandom iš naujo! 2022 is almost ready to peak. But there remains first the second semi-final to cross. Nine acts will perform in this semi-final, including Ieva Zasimauskaitė and Monika Liu. Only four will make it to next week’s final, joining the qualifiers from the first semi-final.
Alternatively, you can watch the show via the official LRT YouTube channel.
Melodifestivalen 2022 in Sweden
Heat a | Delta vling 1
Time: 8:00 p.m. CET to 9:30 p.m. CET
It is undoubtedly the linchpin of the national final season. And tonight Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2022 returns for another six-week run. The opening show will see seven acts perform, including former winner Robin Bengtsson and Netflix star Omar Rudberg. Keep an eye out for the slightly modified format. The winner of the round will be known after the first round of voting, while a second round of voting will determine the second direct runner-up and two qualifiers for the semi-final (formerly Andra Chansen).
Latvia Supernova 2022
Time: 8:05 p.m. CET to 10:10 p.m. CET
It started with a generic online vote in January. But now Latvia’s Supernova 2022 is ready to hit TV screens. The grand final is only a week away but, before that, there is still a semi-final to go. There are plenty of familiar faces, including Aminata from Eurovision 2015 and Supernova regular Markus Riva. Newcomers Citi Zēni also generated a lot of interest with their vegan anthem “Eat Your Salad”. A total of 17 artists will compete tonight, ten of whom will qualify for the grand finale.
The X Factor from Israel for Eurovision 2022
Grand Final — February 5, 2022
Time: 8:15 p.m. CET to 9:30 p.m. CET
On Thursday, we saw eight songs reduced to four. Tonight, that number will be reduced to just one as Israel chooses its next star for Eurovision 2022 during the X factor final. The X Factor final will consist of two legs. The first round will see the four finalists – Michael Ben David, Eli Huli, Inbal Bibi and Sapir Saban – perform a cover. One will be eliminated at this point. The three finalists will then present their potential applications for Eurovision. The final result will be determined by the public (50%), the X Factor judges (25%) and another panel of experts (25%).
The show will air on Reshet’s Channel 13. It is not yet clear if there will be geo-blocking in place for international viewers.
Slovenia EMA 2022
Time: 8:20 p.m. CET to 9:40 p.m. CET
It’s been a long and winding road, but Slovenia’s EMA Freš 2022 is finally over and dusted off! And that means it’s time to focus on the main event – EMA 2022. After a two-year hiatus, the semi-finals are back and the premiere will take place tonight. Ten acts will compete in tonight’s first semi-final and six will compete in the final two weeks from now.
Sanremo Italian Festival 2022
Fifth evening: The final | Quinta Serata: final
Time: 8:45 p.m. CET to 1:45 a.m. CET
After four long nights, the iconic Italian music festival Sanremo 2022 comes to an end tonight. And, hopefully, before the night is over, we will know the next Italian Eurovision representative. Going into the fifth and final night, Mahmood & Blanco dominate the leaderboard with “Brividi”. The track has already cracked the top five on Spotify’s global chart, but with the public, a press jury and a demoscopic jury to press, that could all change. They face fierce competition from Gianni Morandi and Elisa.
